part with your own event – we’re favouring
pancakes with local eggs and milk and banana and chocolate

| Global Re-think |
| Thursday 20th November 2008,
Shrewsbury United Reformed Church |
| How can my street help me to cut my Carbon Footprint? To what extent should overseas development projects work with cultures with values different from our own? How can I raise funds for our overseas link?
These are some of the questions that challenged participants at the Global Rethink - an evening of inspirational ideas for a better world.
For many, the highlight of the evening was a Charity Dragons’ Den – inspired by the TV programme of the same name. Five local good causes made their pitch for support and guidance from a panel of local ‘Dragons’ – all experts in their own field. Each good cause went away with pledges of help. |

| Making the World of Difference
Conference - 27th July 2008 |
| Children, teachers and governors
from twelve Primary schools across Shropshire put their heads
together to share ideas to make the world a better place.
The ‘Making the World of Difference Conference’ featured
inspirational speeches, presentations and workshops led by
the children from School Councils. The conference was part
of Bridges’ G8 Challenge project enabling schools to
debate and vote on topical global issues. |
| Voting at last year’s
mock G8 summit determined the priorities for school based
action over the year. Many of the schools held Fairtrade
events within school and worked to improve energy efficiency
in the local community. After a year of action, the pupils
involved in the project were ready to share their experiences
and give tips to other schools wanting to follow their lead. |
