Resource centre
BRIDGES has a development education resource centre with a wide range of educational books, packs, videos and CD roms available to buy or hire. Staff are available to give advice and support. The resource centre open by appointment.

NEW ARTEFACT BOXES!
India at Home and Abroad
A box full of colour and sparkle, including clothing, bangles, food platters and cups. As well as ideas for activities, there is a fascinating DVD on children’s life in Kolkata and there are books and photos taken of the Indian community in Birmingham.
Fairtrade
A box packed with items to help pupils find out more about fair-trade. Includes lots of fair-trade goods – toys, food, clothes- posters, leaflets and books with a host of activity ideas.

There is a guidance pack with background to the objects and ideas for the classroom, including recipes and piñata instructions. A CD Rom full of photos of city and country life is also included. Amongst some of the objects are cooking items, toys & decorations, religious artefacts.

Over a dozen artefacts from Africa to inspire pupils to reduce, re-use and recycle. Includes toys and instruments made in Zambia out of recycled materials and unusual items such as a horsehair flywhisk and a goatskin fan.
Five books compliment the artefacts with ideas on how to use everyday objects to make new things in Design and Technology and Art. Suitable for KS2 and KS3.
CPD sessions and ½ day workshops for KS2 on global solutions to rubbish are also available.
Southern Africa Boxes
We hire out 4 artefact boxes containing resources collected from ordinary people in southern Africa. They come with a pack of lesson plans, worksheets and a CD Rom, and are linked to the national curriculum. The focus is KS2, but the boxes can be adapted for use with other age groups.
The charge is £10 for two weeks.

If the World Were a Village - World issues made accessible by imagining the world is inhabited by 100 people. Book published by A ad C Black. Available from BRIDGES @ £6.99
Learning Global Lessons - 50 non-fiction literacy hours. Easy to use literacy hours on global themes with worksheets. Book and Photopack published by DFID/ActionAid. Available from BRIDGES @ £20
Wake up, World! - Documents a day in lives of 8 children from around the World. Book published in association with Oxfam. Available from BRIDGES @£6.99.

Show Racism the red card - An accessible pack which uses football to tackle the issue of race and racism. An excellent citizenship resource. Video/CD Rom and book pack. Available from BRIDGES for £20
