Views from Shropshire celebrates the lives and experiences of sixty-eight people who have moved to Shropshire from different parts of the world since the Second World War.
Their stories were collected through oral history interviews and reminiscence workshops, exploring their lives in their country of origin, their motivation for moving to Britain and their experiences of settling into Shropshire life.
Views from Shropshire provides a fascinating insight into the cultural and ethnic diversity in Shropshire, and how diverse communities have helped shape Shropshire’s past and present.
How to use this project:
For information: To learn about the different community groups that have settled in the county, and to explore some of the opportunities and challenges they have faced.
For education: To explore issues of 'diversity' and 'community cohesion', and to explore the common values and experiences that connect people of all backgrounds and ages.
For inspiration: To develop community projects or workshops based on the Views from Shropshire oral histories.
