| Key Stage 2 Lesson Plans |
| The Views
from Shropshire Key Stage 2 lesson plans are useful for
schools who wish to enhance their work around ‘difference and
diversity’ and ‘community cohesion’. |
| The material is based on oral history
extracts from diverse communities in Shropshire, and enables pupils
to develop an empathy with the real life experiences of people
living in their local community. Pupils will learn key facts and
information relating to the ethnic groups in Shropshire and are
asked to imagine they are moving to a country, and how they might
adjust to the challenges of migration. |
| The Views
from Shropshire lesson plans can be used individually
or as part of a day of activities, exploring cultural and ethnic
diversity at school and in the wider community. Please adapt
these resources to suit the needs of the class. Although particularly
recommended for Year 5 and 6 students, they are also suitable
for higher ability groups in other years. |
| To make the best use of these materials,
book a CPD session for inspiration on how to develop the lesson
plans for your school or to learn more about diverse communities
in Shropshire. |
